REPORT NO. 70-1113/86-01 l'

On February 3-5, 1986, NRC inspected activities authorized by NRC License

No. SNM-1097 for your General Electric facility. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those membes of your staff identified in the enclosed inspection report.

The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license with respect to radiation safety and compliance with NRC regulations and the

! conditions of your license. It included selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and direct observations by the inspector.

1 The inspection findings indicate that certain activities violated NRC require-ments. The violations, references to pertinent requirements, and elements to be included in your response are presented in the enclosed Notice of Violation. The

! subject of Violation 2 was originally discussed in Inspection Report No. 70-113/84-04 which documented an inspection performed February 21-24, 1984.

, At that time, no violations of NRC regulations were thought to have occurred.

1 Subsequent reviews of NRC regulations indicated hat a violation of NRC requirements did occur, therefore the violation has been included in the enclosed Notice of Violation.

l In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter, its enclosures, and your reply will be placed in NRC's Public Document Room upon completion of our i evaluation of the reply. If you wish to withhold information contained therein.

l please notify this office by telephone or include a written application to i withhold information in your response. Such application must be consistent with I

the requirements of 2.790(b)(1).

The responses directed by this letter and the e , closures are not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget issued under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
