Dr. J. Nelson Grace Serial No.86-189 Regional Administrator NAPS /JHL Region II Docket Nos. 50-338 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 50-339 Suite 2900 License Nos. NPF-4 101 Marietta St., N.W.

NPF-7 Atlanta, Georgia 30323

Dear Dr. Grace:

VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS NO. 1 AND 2 h3C INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-338/85-16 and 50-339/85-16 Inspection Report Nos. 50-338/85-16 and 50-339/85-16, dated July 19, 1985, cantained a Notice of Violation with ten specific examples of failure to follow procedures.

Example 8 dealt with finding a piece of measuring and test equipment (M&TE) with an outdated calibration sticker.

The cause of the violation was attributed to personnel error.

Our response to the violation, dated September 19, 1985 (Serial No.85-543), indicated that a training module was to be written and training was to be completed by April 1, 1986 for supervisors and maintenance and test equipment check out point personnel.

The training module associated with the violation response has been written. Training has been completed for check out point personnel and foreman and supervisors.

There are a number of other individuals some that also require this training in order to fulfill the commitment. These individuals were not available to receive the required training by April 1,1986 because of their duties associated with the two closely spaced refueling outages. An extension until July 1,1986 is needed to complete the required training.

This extension was discussed with Mr. Ignatonis of your staff on April 1, 1986.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Very truly yours,

/t A -
