Steam Generator Tube Plugging Analysis
Dear Sir:
In response to a Request for Additional Information (RAI) 210.69, we transmitted to you, via Reference (b), our response which indicated that Seabrook is in 'accordance with the recommendations of Regulatory Guide 1.121,
" Bases for Plugging Degraded PWR Steam Generator Tubes."
The intent of this letter is to provide further information to support our response to the subject RAI.
As you are aware, the ASME Code,Section XI - Division 1, Paragraph IWB-3521, allows for 0.D. indications up to forty percent (40%) of tube thickness. If this indication standard of IWB-3521 is not maintained, the Code, Paragraph IWB-3630, does require an analysis for indications which exceed the forty percent (40%) criteria.
At the present time, Seabrook is utilizing the forty percent (40%)
allowable indication criteria, and this is consistent with the present
.Seabrook Technical Specifications (3/4.4.5.4). We do not anticipate at this time that Seabrook will require an allowable indication greater than that cllowed by IWB-3521.- If, in the future, we elect to use a larger value, we will submit to you the required analysis for your review.
