SUPPLEMENTAL AFFIDAVIT OF JOSEPH L. DANEK ON CONTENTION NO. 7

1. My name is Joseph L. Danek. I previously sponsored " Affidavit of Joseph L. Danek on Contention No. 7 (January 21,1986)in the above captioned proceeding.
2. The purpose of this affidavit is to revise a statement in my previous affidavit. On Page 15, paragraph 32 of my previous affidavit I stated that

"(t)he actual exposure incurred during the reracking was 13.17 person-rem." As is explained below, information developed af ter I signed my previous af fidavit indicates that the actual exposure was 13.20 person-rem.

3. In order to determine the occupational exposure for reracking of the spent fuel pools for Turkey Point Unit 3, personnel exposure levels were monitored in conformance with the requirements of the Radiation Work Permit (RWP) for each activity. The data regarding personnel radiation exposure were maintained and tracked on a real time computer system. To calculate the total exposure level for the reracking of Unit 3, an ALARA engineer on the Turkey Point health physics staff transcribed the figures from the computer printout for each RWP to a handwritten sheet and then totaled the figures. In doing so he incorrectly transcribed one figure as .01 when the actual figure was .04. The result of this transcribing error was a total of 13.17 rather than the accurate total of 13.20. This mistake resulted in my using the incorrect 13.17 total in my previous affidavit.

E

4. This transcribing error came to light when the NRC reviewed the computer generated RWP figures and computed a total person-rem exposure of 13.20. Florida Power and Light then reviewed its original calculations and discovered the source of the error.
5. The difference between 13.17 and 13.20 person-rem is minor and inconsequential. This difference effects no substantive change in the content or conclusions of my previous affidavit on Contention No. 7. The figure 13.17 should be changed to 13.20 in my previous affidavit at pages,15,16 and 18.

Additionally,I have recalculated the figures contained in the table on page 18 and supplied a new table for the use of the Board. This does not change the figures in the "% of total" column. I have reviewed the other figures and statements contained in my previous affidavit to assure their accuracy. I have found no other changes that need to be made.

FURTHER AFFIANT SAYETH NOT The foregoing is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.
