(Turkey Point Plant, Units 3 and 4), Nos. 50-250 OLA-2 and 50-251 OLA-2 (Spent Fuel Pool Expansion)

Dear Licensing Board Members:

The purpose of this letter is to inform the Board and the parties of a correction to one of the statements in the affidavits filed in support of Licensee's Motion for Summary Disposition of Intervenors' Contentions 1(January 23, 1986). On page 15, paragraph 32 of the Affidavit of Joseph L. Danek on Contention No. 7, Mr. Danek stated that

"[t]he actual exposure incurred during the reracking was 13.17 person-rem." 'As is explained in the attached Supplemental Affidavit of Joseph L. Danek on Contention No. 7, the actual exposure was 13.20 person-rem, not 13.17 person-rem.

The 13.17 person-rem exposure total was calcula_ted by an ALARA engineer who incorrectly transcribcd a computer j generated Radiation Work Permit (RWP) person-rem exposure figure as .01 when the actual figure was .04. At the time Mr. Danek signed his previous affidavit, neither he nor FP&L was aware of thic~ error. The mistake by the ALARA engineerfwas discovered by FP&L, after Mr. Danek had executed his previous affidavit, when the NRC reviewed the exposure reported by FP&L and calculated a total exposure level of

[ NawmAw & Hoxxzzw:m:2, P. C.

In order to provide the Board and the parties with the correct information Mr. Danek has executed a new affidavit and has explained how the mistake occurred and how it was discovered. Use of the 13.20 person-rem exposure level does not materially affect the substance and conclusions of Mr. Danek's previous affidavit.

The 13.17 person-rem exposure level figure was also used,-with citations to Mr. Danek's affidavit, in the Affidavit of Rebecca K. Carr on Contention No. 7, in Licensee's Motion for Summary Disposition of Intervenors Contentions and in Licensee's Statement of Material Facts as to Which There is no Genuine Issue to be Heard with Respect to Intervenors' Contentions. For the Board's convenience, I have attached, as Appendix A, a list of all citations to the 13.17 figure in documents submitted to the Board.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused the Board and the parties.

Respectfully submitted, r
