ADVANCED FUNDING REQUEST FOR FIN NO. A3778, " REVIEW OF THE PROBABILISTIC RISK ASSESSMENT FOR THE SEABROOK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT"

Speis to Directors Memorandum, " Review of the Seabrook Station Probabilistic Safety Assessment,"
June 21, 1984 I request that you authorize initiation of work on the review of the Seabrook PRA at an amount of $50,000 prior to receipt of a proposal for this effort.
A request for a proposal is attached for your approval.
Work has already begun on this assessment under the direction of RRAB with a contract to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory under NRR/ DST funding (FIN No. A-3754-4), and the work that is to be funded is

required to be closely coordinated with the Livermore and RRAB effort.
Preliminary work is required now so that a trip to the plant site can be undertaken during August or early September which will involve members of the contract (Brockhaven National Laboratory), Livermore, RRAB, and RSB.
The requirement for RSB and Brookhaven to assist in this effort is the subject of the Reference Memorandum.
