In a recent discussion with members of the NRC staff, New Hampshire Yankee was requested to clarify the response provided in Reference (c).
In that response, it was noted that our review of engineering documents, construction documents and field verification revealed that Rockbestos Cable described in the subject 10CFR21 report was not us'ed in conjunction with radiat. ion monitors inside containment.
To further clarify our response, NHY does not utilize the coaxial type Rockbestos Cable between any GA Radiation Monitoring Instrumentation (e.g.,
the RM-80 microprocessor and the RD-23 ion chamber detector) either inside or outside containment. The Seabrook radiation monitoring design utilizes ITT-Surprenant cable, which is fully qualified for both normal and post accident service environments. Furthermore, NHY does not utilize the Rockbestos coaxial cable identified in the GA 10CFR21 report in any safety related radiation monitoring application at Seabrook Station.
