50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE 78 - RI: QUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The subject technical specification change concerning the proposed deletion of chlorine detector requirements was transmitted to NRC on January 21, 1987.

During a March 2, 1987 telephone conference call with J.

J. Holonich, TVA was requested to: (1) provide a copy of Technical Informati.on (TI)-870,

" Ammonia Hazard Analysis for the Control Room Environmental Cotitrol System,"

which was referenced in the proposed technical specification clange justification; and (2) address a statement in section 6.4.2 of the Sequoyah Safety Evaluation Report (NUREC-00ll, March 1979) concerning tha storage of four ISO-pound chlorine cylinders within the Turbine Building. A copy of TI-870 is provided as an enclosure to this letter.

The Sequoyah Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) no longne references the storage of four 150-pound chlorine cylinders in the Turbine Building. The chlorine hazards evaluation in FSAR section 6.4.1.2.1 is based on a portable 600-pound chlorine tank, referenced in FSAR section 2.2.3.4.

This chlorine tank is no longer utilized at Sequoyah. The FSAR references to this 600-pound portable tank will be deleted in the next annual update after approval of this proposed technical specification change.
