General Instructions
'A ) Request an approved shipping container for the size of (Outgoing Sources) source to be shipped from Technical Operations.
B) Pack and seal the container for shipment per Technical Operations instructio~ns.
C) Survey the outside surfaces of the container.
Readings must not be over 200 Millirems / hour at the surface or in excess of 10 Millirems / hour at a distance of 3 feet from the surface of the container.
D) Apply the correct labels:
- 1. Label Badioactive - White 10.5 MR/HR. at the surfac'e and 0.0 MR/HR at 3 feet.
2.
Label Badighgtivg - XgligH 11 50 MR/HR at the surface and 10'MR/HR at 3 feet.
3.- Label Badigagtive - Yelled 111 200 MR/HR at the surface and 10. MR/HR at 3 feet.
(The vehicle would also have to be placarded at this level).
E) Apply the proper labels to opposite sides of the container showing gontents and the number of curies.
F) Notify the shipper (Use common carrier or U.P.S.) as to the contents of the container and arrange to have it shipped.immediately after arrival at the shipping area.
G) All radioactive materials must be' shipped on.as direct a route as possible.
H) Include the class of. radiation on the Bill of Lading.
I) Shipper should also' include the type of Radioactive Material, the amount or size of the source, and the serial number and description of the equipment from which it was taken.

s J) All source records are to be kept on permanent file.
