Gentlemen:

SUBJECT:

Internals Vibration Monitoring System for the Thermal Shield Support System - Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No. 1 The Omaha Public Power District (0 PPD) will submit additional information on OPPD's Internals Vibration Monitoring (IVM) system to the NRC as requested in Section 5.0 of the Safety Evaluation transmitted by Reference 2.

The additional information will consist of:

data on the IVM system, including analysis techniques and data interpretation.

supplying IVM threshold levels which will be used to indicate the initiation of the slow degradation process of the Core Support Barrel / Thermal Shield support structure.

The supplied threshold levels will include an evaluation of the potential errors in the system's detectors, instrumentation, and indication subsystems.

providing the intended inspection and/or corrective action program that will be initiated by 0 PPD when the above threshold levels are exceeded.

providing a description of the methods that are used by 0 PPD to accomplish the IVM data collection, analysis, interpretation, and any required corrective actions.
