Dear Mr. Zugger:

RE: Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant NPDES Permit No. 0005827 Steam Generator Blowdown Anticipating a return to service af ter a maintenance outage, the Number 23 steam generator in the Unit 2 nuclear steam supply system was drained. A grab sample of the effluent was found to have a pH of 10.63.

The elevated pH is likely due to the addition of ammonia used during the outage to prevent steam generator degradation.

i Very truly yours, l: $
