Gentlemen:
SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-321/88-29 AND 50-366/88-29
This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Coninission (NRC) inspection conducted by
J. E. Menning on August 20-September 23, 1988.
The inspection included a
review of activities authorized for your Hatch facility. At the conclusion of
the inspectiori, the findings were discussed with those members of your staff
identified in the enclosed Inspection Report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
activities in prog ess.
'
The inspection finitings indicate that certain activities appeared to violate
NRC requirements.
However, because all of the criteria for categorization cf
licensee-identified violations were met, the vi,lation is not being cited. The
details pertaining to the licensee-identified volation are described in the
enclosed Inspection Report.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2,
1
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of thi:; letter and its enclosure
will be placed in the NPC Public Document Room.
The responses directed by this letter and its enclosure are not subject 1.0 the
clearance procedures of the Of fice of Management and Budget as required by the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, Pub. L. No.96-511.
