Dear Mr. Beckham:
By letter dated June 21, 1984, Georgia Power Company submitted a partial response to our Generic Letter 84-09 concerning recombiner capability requirements and requested that Hatch Units 1 and 2 be considered exempt from the hydrogen recombiner requirement of 10 CFR 50.44(c)(3)(ii). We have completed our review of this submittal and concluded that the proposed bases for not furnishing a recembiner capability for Hatch Unit 1 are acceptable.
We have also concluded that Hatch Unit 2 should continue use of its staff approved recombiner system.
Our Safety Evahation concerning this review is enclosed.
