Our letter of January 6, 1983, provided a response to this request. In telephone conversations on April 11 and April 19, 1983, your staff requested additional information on the wall enclosing the nuclear service station transformer and wall no.181.1.

As requested, calculations are attached which show that the wall enclosing the nuclear service station transformer can withstand a 101 mph wind and associated wind generated missiles. Wall no.181.1, which is adjacent to safety related conduits, will probably not withstand wind generated missiles. In order to resolve this item, the District commits to install a shield structure around the conduits by September 1, 1983.

The District understands that resolution of the items discussed above will allow your staff to complete their evaluation of masonry wall design for Rancho Seco Unit 1.
