1.
- RCIC Auto Start Modification Details The RCIC System has been modified to relocate the signal for the.high reactor vessel water level trip from the RCIC turbine trip valve to the steam supply valve.
This permits automatic restart of RCIC System on low reactor water level.
The-4 modification was accomplished as follows:

The mechanical trip mechanism in the RCIC turbine trip valve was modified incorporating an electro i
mechanical un'it to prevent the turbine trip valve from closing upon loss of oil pressure which results from RCIC turbine shutdown.

The high' water level trip and' alarm was removed-from the l
ltCIC turbine trip valve.

A' relay and contact were installed to close the steam 4-supply valve on high reactor. water level.
d.
A new contact was added to provide annunciation in the a
control. room on high reactor water level to replace that removed in item lb.
i This modification was installed during the Fall of 1981.

The modifications to the RCIC System were designed and implemented to standards consistent with original system design.

Quality Assurance Requirements f
The portions of the RCIC System affected by this modification are

j classified as safety related. Accordingly, quality assurance l
requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B have been satisfied.
