Dear Mr. Keppler:

On March 25, 1983, Mr. L. G. Yeager of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e).

ITT Grinnell notified PSI of the potential for an interference to exist between the rear attachment brackets and the ITT Grinnell Figure 306/307 mechanical snubber pivot mount brackets. These interferences could restrict the movement of the snubber to less than the designed movement of five degrees minimum. An inspection performed by ITT Grinnell personnel at Marble Hill verified the presence of unacceptable snubber conditions at Marble Hill.

As a result of the above mentioned inspection, PSI will return the rear brackets to ITT Grinnell for reworking to bring them into compliance with design requirements.
