VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPA_NJ NORilLANNA POWER STATION UNITS UN_0__2 UPDATED FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT REVISION 8 Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.71(e), Virginia Electric and Power Company submits Revision 8 to the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) for the North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2.

One signed original and ten additional copies of Revision 8 to the UFSAR are enclosed.

Each revision package contains replacement instructions and Revision 8 pages, including overleafs.

The Revision 8 pages replace tne existing pages as described in the instructions.

Please be advised that the UFSAR figures, related to station drawings, are not included in this update.

As we statad in the Revision 6 update, Virginia

Electric and Power Company is in the process of improving the quality of the UFSAR figures.

These figures were provided by the June 1988 figure update or will be provided in the next figure update scheduled for issue by the end of 1988.

The enclosed changes to the UFSAR include changes which were made under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.59, but have not been previously submitted to the NRC.

i ATTACHMENT 1 The following changes were made under the provisions of 1-CFR 50.59 but have not been previously submitted to the NRC:

1) The frequency of monitoring the main dam drainage collection system has been changed from "every 2 months" to "every 3 months" on Table 3.8-12.

2)The requirements for alignment and displacement of the service water pumps, Section 3.8.4.6.4.6, have been changed to agree with the manufacturer's tolerance.

3)The augmented inspection of the reactor coolant bypass lines, Section 3.6.2.3, has bt.en changed to require inspection of the lines only at the branch connectiea points and the weld points at the terminal ends at regular 10-year inspection intervals.

4) The fluid concentration of boric acid has changed from 1-12% to 1-9% on Table 9.3-7.

5)The double mechanical seal in the boron evaporator bottoms pump, 1-BR-P-9, has been changed to a single seal on Table 9.3-7.

6) In Section 9.4.5.7, the use and operation of an auxiliary monitoring panel fan has been added.
7) The rerouting of piping from the process vent to vent stack "B" has been incorporated in Section 11.3 and the accuracy of the RWST water level has been changed from 2% to : 2.5% on Table 7.5-2.
8) The ASME Ccde referenced in Section 3.C.2.7.1 has been changed from ASME III, Appena'ix IX to ASME XI, Appendix III and a statement of alternative examinations as allowed by IWA-2240 of 1983 Sumer 1983 Addenda to ASME XI has beer added.

9)Section2.3.3was revised to state that annual meteorological data summaries shall be rctained onsite for NRC review.

10) Status of all containment isolation valves is displayed now in Control Room via light indications (DCP 84-57 & 84-58)

UFSAR Sections affected 6.2, 7.3, 7.5, 9.3.

11) Section 68.3.2 revised to reflect FW isolation valve time of 8 seconds vs. 5 seconds.
