SUBJECT: NRC INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-413/97-15 AND 50-414/97-15
AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Dear Mr. Peterson:
On January 10. 1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Catawba Nuclear
Station. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection. 4
During the seven week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of
activities at the Catawba Nuclear Station was generally characterized by
safety-conscious operations, as well as adequate engineering, maintenance, and
radiological controls. However, o violation of NRC requirements was
' identified and.is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice). The
circumstances surrounding the violation are described in detail in the i
enclosed report.
You are required to respond to this letter and should follow the instructions
specified in the enclosed Notice when preparing your response. The NRC will
.use your response, in part, to determine whether further enforcement action is
.nececsary to ensure compliar.ce with regulatory requirements.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's." Rules of Practice ' a copy of
