Dear Mr. Denton:
Reference (a) transmitted an Order confirming Commonwealth Edison Company's commitments made in response to Generic Letter 82-33.
These commitments were originally contained in reference (b) and were modified in references (c), (d), and (e). Included among these items was a commitment to submit a pteliminary report describing how the requirements of Regulatory Guide 1.97 have been or will be met. This letter transmits the required report.
The Attachment to this letter contains a preliminary report describing how the Regulatory Guide 1.97 review was performed for Zion Station. This report provides an overview of the review process and identifies the instruments at Zion that are to be utilized to meet the requirements of Regulatory Guide 1.97.
In addition, an analysis of any deviations from Regulatory Guide 1.97 is included. This analysis includes either a justification for the deviation or a plan for upgrading the instrument.

F Mr. H. R. Denton August 1, 1986 The submittal of a final Regulatory Guide 1.97 report and implementation schedule for Zion Staiton will be submitted by February 1, 1987 as required by reference (a). It should be noted that the February 1, 1987 submittal date was original predicated upon timely NRC approval of the DCRDR Summary Report, as discussed in reference (e).
