On February 12,1997 Federal Energy Regulatior. Commission (FERC) performed an inspection of the Service Water Peservoir Dam. The results of the inspection were l
provided to Virginia Electric and Power Company (Virginia Power) by the NRC in an l
inspection report dated November 13, 1997. The results of the dam safety audit l
identified recommendations with corrective actions to be taken immediately (within 30 l
days), short term (with:n 90 days), and inte mediately (within 120 days). After reviewing the audit it was noted that information regarding stability calculations may have been misinterpreted. Initial conversations between Virginia Power and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commics:on confirmed this assumption.
Subsequently, conversations between Virginia Power and the NRC Project Manager identified tho need for a meeting between the three parties to discuss the recommended actions and applicable corrective action dates.
l A meeting between the NRC, Virginia Power, and FERC has been tentatively scheduled for early January 1996. It is our understanding that the recommendations and corrective action completion dates will be established at this time. Should you l
