Gentlemen:
Subject: Inspection Report No. 50-322/86-09
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. D. Florek of
this office on March 24-27, 1986, at the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station,
Shoreham, New York, of activities authorized by NRC License No. NPF-36 and to
the discussions of our findings held by Mr. D. Florek with Mr. W. Steiger and
other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and repre-
sentative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the viola-
tion brought to your attention in the enclosure to our letter dated
September 26, 1985. We have no further questions regarding your action
at this time. However, we note that you are still in the process of review-
ing startup test procedures for test condition 1 through 6 and will not
complete your review until prior to entry into test condition 1.
We will
follow up on completion of this item in a future inspection.
Within the scope of this inspection, no viclations were observed.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter
is appreciated.
