From November 12,1998, th ough Janualy 2,1999, a routine inspection was conducted at your

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3, reactor facility. The enclosed report

presents the scope and results of that inspection.

- During the 7-week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of activities at the
ii
San Onofre facility was generally characterized by safety-conscious operation, sound

engineering and maintenance practices, and careful radiological work controls.

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
