SUBJECT:

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN MEETING - WATERFORD-3

Dear Mr. Dugger:

This refers to the meeting conducted in the Region IV office on December 16,1998. This meeting was held to discuss improvements in overall performance at Waterford 3, as specified

)

in your Performance improvement Plan. During the meeting, your staff provided information i

related to improvements and changes in the management of your facility, with particular emphasis in the area of Engineering programs and processes.

As a result of your efforts to implement improvements in the performance area of Engineenng, as well as other areas of past concern, I have concluded that the routine meetings for discussion of your performance initiatives are no longer necessary. If additional meetings are determined to be needed in the future, we will schedule such meetings.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

' Should you have any questions concerning this matter, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
