Arlington, Texas 76011 Gentlemen:

Enclosed is an application for a special nuclear material license.

LSU currently has eight 1 Cf (16 gm) and one 2 C1 (32 gm) plutonium beryllium sealed sources. Gulf 011 Corpe ation has offered to donate to LSU a 10 C1 (160 gm) plutonium-berylliun. source provided we can take possession of the source by February 28, 1986.

In the off chance that LSU does r.ot have a valid license by February 28, 1986, could you grant LSU permission to store the source in its shipping container until the license is issued.

Please contact me at 504 388-4400 if additional information is needed.
