SUBJECT:
BRAIDWOOD STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.1 (PART 1)
The applicant was required by Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.1 (Part 1) to confirm that all components whose functioning is required to trip the reactor are identified as safety-related on all plant documentation and in information handling systems that are used to control ~all activities performed on this safety-related equipment.
By letters dated November 5, 1983, and June 1, 1984, the applicant responded to Item 2.1 (Part 1) (Equipment Classification - RTS Components). The responses were found to be acceptable, as documented in the enclosed Safety Evaluation prepared with the assistance of EG&G Idaho, Inc. The applicant's responses confirm that a proaram exists for identifying, classifying and treating components as safety-related which are reouired for performance of the reactor trip function. This program meets the requirements of Item 2.1 (Part 1) of Generic Letter 83-28, and is therefore acceptable.
Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.1 remains open since the vendor interface portion (Part 2) has not been resolved.
