Dear Sir:

In Reference (b) we advised that the NSSS supplied Limitorque actuators were being reviewed. The purpose of this letter is to document the result of our review which was previously discussed with the Staff.

Magnesium rotors are used on Reliance Motors of frame sizes 180 and above for Limitorque operators.

Westinghouse has confirmed, through a technical audit at Limitorque that a motor, with a magnesium rotor, has been tested to the Westinghouse qualification temperature peaks of 420*F referenced in EQDP-HE-1.

The tested motor, with a magnesium rotor has a HELB profile identical to EQDP-HE-1.

i Seabrook has qualified the Westinghouse NSSS supplied Limitorque actuators inside containment by utilizing the same test report. There-fore, we consider the Seabrook NSSS supplied Limitorque actuators with magnesium rotors qualified.

As stated in Reference (b), no magnesium rotors were supplied as part of BOP supplied Limitorque actuators.

4 In conclusion, we have determined that all Limitorque actuators are qualified for the harsh environments that could occur under postu-

lated accident environments.
