s RE0 VEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGABDJE VOLTAGE-BASED STEAM GENERATOR TUBE REPAIR CRITERIA B.EAVER VALLEY POWER STATION. UNIT NO. 2 DOCKET NO. 50-412 1.

The NRC staff cannot complete its review of your submittal without a l

review of the methodology DLC plans to use in the implementation of the L

voltage-based rr. pair criteria. Describe the methodology or, as an alternative, confirn DLCs plan to use the probabilistic methodology as described in WCAP-14277, Revision 1 which has already been approved by the NRC staff, i

2.

In a letter dated October 15, 1996, NE! proposed revised criteria for asst tsing new probe variability. The revised criteria is based on a review of the data used originally to support the position that only the primary frequency was required for tests on new probes to verify that they wet the voltage variability specification of +/- 10%.

NEI reccmmended that new probes be tested at both the primary and n:ix frequencies. Confirm DLC's plan to follow the NEl recommendation set forth in the October 15, 1996 letter.

If not, provide the basis for DLC's conclusion that the original probe variability criteria is adequate.
