Level Measur'ement Error;-Additional Information (SER Outstanding Issue No.10)
Dear Sir:
In' Reference (d), we committed to provide high containment pressure _
alarms and containment pressure indication. During subsequent discussions with the Staff we were asked to expand on this statement to indicate in more detail how this commitment will be met.
The containment pressure indications will be narrow range, ~5 psig to
+5 psig. The instrument channels and alarms which will provide this indi-cation will be classified as Class 1E, and will meet the design and qual-ification criteria in FSAR Section 7.5.4.4 for Design Category 1 accident monitoring instrumentation. High containment pressure alarms will be pro-vided from these channels to alert the operator upon the containment pres-sure exceeding the alarm trip point.

e' United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention:
Mr. Vincent S. Noonan Page 2 The c.antainment pressure indicators will be installed in the main control board. The alarms will be displayed on both the Video Alarm System (VAS) and the hard-wired annunciator. The VAS alarm will be assigned Priority I which requires immediate operator response. The hard-wired annunciator contains a minimal set of alarms all of which require immediate operator response. This assures that the operators will be alerted to, and will respond to, the abnormal containment conditions in a timely manner.
The actions that would be taken in response to the alarms indi-cating an abnormal condition inside the containment are delineated in l
Reference (b).
We trust this information is acceptable and request the resolution I
of the above referenced SER outstanding issue be reflected in the next l
supplement to Seabrook's SER.
l Very truly yours, l
