SUBJECT: INSPECTION NO. 15000019/97 004
Dear Mr. Williams:
On November 20 and 21,1997, Richard Gibson, Jr. of this office conducted a safety
inspection at Army Research Laboratory, Building 504, Adelphi Laboratory Center,
2800 Powder Mill Road, Adelphi, Maryland of activities authorized by the Maryland
license listed below. Your activities in NRC jurisdiction are authorized by a general
license granted by 10 CFR 150.20(a). The inspection was an examination of your
licensed activities as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the
Commission's regulations and the license conditior s. The inspection was observations
by the inspector and radiation measurements during the removal of cobalt 60 sources
from a pool irradiator within the NRC's jurisdiction. A copy of the NRC inspection
report is enclosed. The findings of the inspection were discussed with Dale L. Repp
and other members of your staff, at the conclusion of the inspection.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10,
Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the Public
Document Room. No reply to this letter is required.
