FIELD INSTRUMENT TERMINAL / JUNCTION BOX SEPARATION SAMPLING CRITERIA MILLSTONE UNIT 2 ICAVP 1.0 PURPOSE The purpose of this document is to establish sampling criteria for wiring separation inside local instrument field terminal / junction boxes at Millstone Unit 2,
2.0 SAMPLE POPULATION Sample will be selected from the population of field terminal /junctiori boxes associated with the selected ICAVP systems.
3.0 METHODOLOGY a) For each field instrument device that is within the ICAVP scope, the raceway plan will be reviewed to determine if the device is routed to a field terminal / junction box.
b) If the device is routed directly into the cable tray system, no local terminal / junction box is involved and will not be counted as a part of the population.
c) If the device is routed directly to a field terminal / junction box, the box will be itemized and all other conduit (s) entering the terminal / junction box will be listed.
d) If the device is located on a skid package provided as part of the supplied manufactured product, and has beer, modified by NNECo, it will be included in the sample 4.0 ANALYSIS a)
Any field terminal /junc+ ion box y'ith multiple conduits of different electrical channelis analyzed in accordance with the following criteria:
i)
Junction Boxes a)
Junction boxes found with multiple conduit (s)/ circuit (s) in accordance with FSAR Section 8.7 are considered acceptable. These boxes need not be opened and are not considered a part of the sample population.
b)
Junction boxes found with conduit (s)/ circuit (s) not in accordance with FSAR Section 8.7 are considered a discrepancy and a DR will be processed in accordance with PP-07. These boxes need not be opened and are not considered a part of the sample population.

Terminal Boxes
- -Terminal boxes found with multiple conduit (s)/ circuit (s)
- that are different in electrical charngj shall be opened tol assure that electrical separation is maintained in accordance with FSAR Section 8.7. These boxes are considered as a part of the sample population.
Example Terminal box xyz has conduits designated as Z1A,1A and.
2A enten*ng the box, per Section 8.7 electrical channel 21 -
and channel 1A can be routed together; however,
~ physical separation (barrier or ' air gap') must be maintained between channel Z1 and channel 1.
5.0 -SAMPLE SIZE a) For each ICAVP system 20% of the field terminal boxes associated with the instrumontation included within the population as described above will be reviewed in accordance with the following:
Population Size Min Sample Size 1-7 i
8-12 2
13-17 3
'18 4 b) L If a terminal / junction box is environmentally sealed and is a part of the sample population, it should not be selected as a sample box. If an environmentally sealed terminal / junction box must be included to achieve the minimum sample size, the NRC will be notified for direction on how to -
proceed.
6.0.
Licensing Requirements a)
Terminal / junction boxes with conduit (s)/ circuit (s)/ termination spacing
- satisfying the requirements of FSAR Sections 8.7 and as indicated below i
are acceptable.
i).
-Junction Boxes a)-
Conduits and circuits of the'same electrical channel--
b)

Terminal Boxes a)-
Separate barriered terminals between 1 & Z1 or 2 & Z2.
b) 12 inch air space between terminals of circuits:
Facility 1 & 2,1 & Z2,1 & 23,1 & Z4,1 & 25,2 & Z1,2 &
Z3,2 & Z4,2 & 25, Z1 & Z2, Z1 & Z3, Z1 & Z4, Z1 & Z5, Z2 & Z3, Z2 & 24,22 & Z5, Z3 & Z4, Z3 & Z5,24 & Z5.
c)
Continuous physical barrier between channels identified in item 6.0.2.b b)
= Terminal / junction boxes with conduit (s)/ circuit (s)/ termination spacing noj satisfying the requirements of FSAR Sections 8.7 are considered discrepant and a DR processed in accordance with PP-07 acceptable. If previously identified by NNECo in a UlR,- AR, or CR, this will be indicated in the sample review and a DR need not be processed.
0)
If any terminal / junction box in the original sample size fails to meet the acceptance criteria, an additional 20% of the sample population will be reviewed. If any terminal / junction box within the second sample fails to meet the acceptance criteria, the NRC will be notified and sampling will be stopped until further direction from the NRC is obtained.
