-ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS- JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NO. M99610 AND M99612)

Dear Mr. Morey:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued the enclosed' Amendment No.132 to Facility Operating License No NPF-2 and Amendment No.124 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-8 for the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (Farley), Units 1 and 2. The amendments change the Technical Specificatic.7s (TS) in response to your submittal dated September 17,1997.

The amendment changes TS 3/4.4.9, " Specific Activity," and the associated Bases to reduce -

the limit associated with dose equivalent lodine-131. The steady-state dose equivalent lodine 131 limit would be reduced by 50 percent from 0.3 pCurie/ gram to 0.15 pCurie/ gram and the maximum' instantaneous value would be reduced by 50 percent from 18 pCurie/ gram to ,

9 pCurie/ gram.

A copy of the related Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. A Notice of Issuance will be included _

.' in the Commission's biweekly Federal Reaister notice. '
