1 The following report on the primary coolant system iodine spike is l submitted pursuant to Maine Yankee Technical Specification 3.2.C.
1 On April 15, 1986 at 1700 hours0.0197 days <br />0.472 hours <br />0.00281 weeks <br />6.4685e-4 months <br /> the plant began a controlled shutdown to balance the turbine generator. At 0111 hours0.00128 days <br />0.0308 hours <br />1.835317e-4 weeks <br />4.22355e-5 months <br /> on April 16, 1986 Dose l Equivalent Iodine-131 (DEI-131) activ.ty exceeded 1.0 uC1/ gram and remained above this level until 1900 hours0.022 days <br />0.528 hours <br />0.00314 weeks <br />7.2295e-4 months <br /> the same day. Letdown flow was increased ,
upon reactor shutdown in order to increase coolant cleanup, and reduce DEI-131 l below 1.0 uCi/ gram. i l
The DEI-131 activity, along with plant operating characteristics, and the fuel burnup by core region, are presented in Tables 1 and 2, respectively.
