SUBJECT:

CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION - CORRECTION OF ERROR ON A TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PAGE (TAC NOS. MA95298 AND MA95299)

Dear Mr. Peterson:

On September 30,1998, the staff issued Amendment 173 (for Unit 1) and Amendment 165 (for Unit 2) to the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Tecnnical Specifications (TS).

Ms. Luellen Jones of your staff recently poireted out that there was a minor administrative error on Page 3.3.1-19. Specifically, the sentence that reads "...following Trip Setpoint by more than 3% of RTP" refers only to Unit 1; the information previously residing on page 2-10 of the Unit 2 TS was inadvertently omitted and should have been transferred to the new page 3.3.1-19. The corrected sentence reads "...following Trip Setpoint by more than 3% (Unit 1) or 3.3% (Unit 2) of RTP." Enclosed please find the corrected page.

We apologize for any inconvenience this administrative error may have caused you.

Sincerely, Q<ij W (.Crp' A 4 Peter S. T6m, Senior Project Ma ger Project Directorate ll-2 Division of Reactor Projects - 1/II Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414
