CP&L Carolina Power & Light Company SERIAL: NLS-86-173 M AY 2 71986 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:
Mr. Dan Muller, Director BWR Project Directorate #2 Division of BWR Licensing United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20:55 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2 DOCKET NO. 50-324/ LICENSE NO. DPR-62 FUEL CYCLE NO. 7 - RELOAD LICENSING
Dear Mr. Muller:
On December 20,1985, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) requested a reload licensing amendment to allow Brunswick-2 Cycle 7 operation under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.59. The license amendment was approved and issued by the NRC staff as Amendment No.123 for Brunswick-2 on May 5,1986.
The Company has received and reviewed the General Electric reload licensing topical report concerning Reload 6/ Cycle 7 operation (Supplemental Reload Licensing Submittal for Brunswick Steam Electric Plant Unit 2, Reload 6 - 23A4748 Rev. 0). Based on the Company's review of the report, we have determined that no unreviewed safety questions exist and no additional Technical Specification changes are required to support Brunswick-2 operation for Cycle 7. A copy of the General Electric Topical Report is enclosed for your information.
Please refer any questions regarding this matter to Mr. Stephen D. Floyd at (919) 836-6901.
Yours very truly, 9605300176 860527 PDR ADOCK 0500 4
