NRC INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-424/97-06 AND 50-425/97-06 AND
Dear Mr. McCoy:
On July 5,1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your Vogtle Units 1 and 2
-reactor facilities.
The enclosed report presents the results of that
inspection.
During the five-week period, your conduct of activities at the Vogtle facility
.
.
_
was generally characterized by safety-conscious operations, sound engineering
-
and maintenance practices .and appropriate radiological work controls.
However, one violation was identified involving shortcomings in the
-implementation of your Fitness for Duty Program during an emergency
1
preparedness drill.
This violation is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (Notice) and the<
circumstances surrounding the violation are described in detail in -the
enclosed report.

and should follow the instructions specified quired to respond.to this letter -

in the enclosed Notice when
preparing your response. .The NRC will_ use your- response, in part, to
determine whether further enforcement-action is necessary to ensure compliance
'with regulatory requirements.
