Re: Big Rock Point Plant

On August 26, 1985, the Comission issued Amendment No. 77 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-6 for the Big Rock Point Plant in response to your application dated January 7,1985 as revised by letter dated March 14, 1985. In addition, the Comission approved, as a reference document in the January 7, 1985 submission, a " Process Control Program" (PCP) which delineates the waste solidification process. This approval-was based on your documented methodology, which was found to generally comply with current NRC criteria.

The staff's acceptance of the PCP, however, was and is intended to be on an interim basis for use with Big Rock Point Technical Specification 6.14 The acceptability of the PCP is based on currently available guidelines, but a future revision should address compliance with 10 CFR Part 61 when revised guidance becomes available from the NRC.
