By Reference 1, Southern California Edison (SCE) requested amendments to the Facility Operating Licenses for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 to revise the acceptance criteria for the Agastat time delay relays used in the Engineered Safety Features load sequencers in Surveillance Requirement 3.8.1.18.
The purpose of the present letter is to withdraw our May 29, 1996 request for license amendments. Withdrawal at this time will allow the NRC to better focus its resources on issues of greater import to SCE.
SCE intends to revise and resubmit our request in 1999.
Our resubmittal will include the additional information requested by Reference 2.
