Small Fire in Radweste Building r : : -- -- --

On March f,1983, at 12:10 p.m.i. a reactor operator observed a small smoldering fin in an ama containing sorted redwaste natorial in the Radwaste Building. The material was being prepared for compaction and subsequent shipment.

Preliminary investigation.by.the licensecurevealed that one of the plastic bags had a small burned out area of appmximately 1:squam, foot.

The investigators found two burned out caniboard matches stuck to one of the. unburned bags in tw pile.

The incident-is being investigated by the Itcensee.

The licensee ws stationed Y watchperen in taa area and has increased the awareness of roving security patrols.

No plant ent was affected and no other evidence was fbund.
