Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 Special Report - Inoperable Meteorological Instrumentation San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 2 and 3 Licensee Controlled Specification (LCS) 3.3.105 requires Southern California Edison to report within 10 days, one or more channels of the meteorological monitoring instrumentation being inoperable for more than 7 days.

On November 24,1998, during a routine observation, the Meteorological System Wind Direction Sensor was observed to be inoperable and was replaced. Prior to return to service of the wind direction sensor, communications from the tower to the control room was lost and the investigation and corrective actions for this problem could not be completed within the seven day action statement allowed by LCS 3.3.105. The cause of the communication failure is still under investigation. However, no further communication losses have been observed to date and the system was declared operable on December 4,1998.
