Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50 219 Techn! cal Specifications Change Request No.171 GPU Nuclear Inc., operator of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station, Operating License No. DPR 16, requests changes to the Technical Specifications.

This Technical Specification Change Request was developed in part as a result of a systematic review of the Oyster Creek Technical Specifications, it also clarifies certain sections of the Technical Specifications which have been demonstrated to be unclear or conflicting.

If this Technical Specification Change Request is approved, GPUN requests that it be issued with an implementation date of June 1,1998, to support ongoing plant operations.

The Technical Specification Change Request has been reviewed and approved by both Responsible Technical anxi Independent Safety Reviewers in accordance with Technical Specification 6.5.
