20555 Perry Nuclear Power Plant Dor.ket Nos. 50-440; 50-441 Response to Generic Letter 84-11 Inspections of BWR Stainless Steel Piping

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

This letter is provided in response to your Generic Letter 84-11, dated April 19, 1984 concerning inspections of BWR Stainless Steel Piping.

As mentioned in our July 2, 1981 letter (from D.R. Davidson to D.G. Eisenhut) in response to Generic Letter 81-03, measures have been implemented to reduce the susceptibility to intergranular stress corrosion cracking at Perr;.

These measures were found acceptable by the staf f in the Perry Nuclear Power Plant Safety Evaluation Report and it was determined that there was no need for an augmented inservice inspection and leak detection program at Perry.

We feel that this response adequately addresses your letter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Very truly youra YM Murray R. Edelma Vice President Nuclear Group MRE:njc cc: Jay Silberg, Esq.
