SUBJECT:
NRC INSPECTION REPORT NDS. 50-327/97 16 AND 50-328/97-16
[
Dear Mr. Zeringue:
On November 6.- 1997, the NRC completed a special inspection at your Sequoyah
facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
_,
,
This special inspection was conducted to review the adequacy of an
l
investigation by the licensee of an October 17, 1997, event involving wire-
,
-damage at the Unit 2 Containment Building. Electrical Penetration No. 22.
The
licensee's investigation concluded that the wires were intentionally cut by an
unidentified individual (s). After a review of the event and the licensee's
findings, the NRC supports the conclusion.
Other equipment was inspected by
the NRC and the licensee for evidence of tampering and none was found.
The
,
NRC concluded the licensee's investigation was adequate, and that the response
to the tampering event was excellent.
l
.
Within the scope of the inspection violations or deviations were not
identified.
,
4
.In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice." a copy of
this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room
-(POR),
