Firing Contractor Employee With Welding Concerns On May 23, 1988, a contractor welder met with our Peach Bottom Resident Inspectors to express concern over being fired for not agreeing to perform poor welding practices at the plant.
Specifically, the welder said he was fired on May 21, 1988 for refusing to make a weld repair on an RHR pipe support stanchion to embed plate without first grinding out the repair area.
The
-individual also expressed several other concerns associated with work on the RHR/LPCI line in the SIV on Unit 3; RWCU pipe in the "pit room and pump room";
and use of non qualified welders.
I understand you have investigated his firing and request that you provide us with the results of your investigations.
