SUMMARY

OF UNIT 1 OPERATING EXPERIENCE SEPTEMBER 1986 9/01 Unit 1 began this reporting period at full reactor power (825 MWe).

9/30 Unit 1 ended this reporting period at full reactor power (825 MWe),

i-

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCE SEPTEMBER 1986 9/01 The unit was at 95% reactor power (800 MWe) at the start of this reporting period because of a damaged guide bearing on 24 Circulating Water Pump.

9/02 At 0300, repairs on 24 Circulating Water Pump were complete and the Unit began increasing power.

By 0420, the Unit was at full reactor power (825 MWe).

9/03 At 0441 Unit 2 power was reduced to 98% (820 MWe) for repairs to 24 Circulating Water Pump oil level sight glass.

At 0830, repairs were completed and the Unit returned to full reactor power (825 MWe).

9/05 At 1810, reactor power was reduced to 95% (800 MWe) for repairs to oil sight glasses on #22 and #25 Circulating Water Pumps.

At 1900 repairs were complete and the Unit returned to full reactor power (825 MWe) at 2030.

9/05 At 2358 Unit 2 tripped because of a failed surge capacitor on 21A Reactor Coolant Pump.

9/07 At 0535, the Reactor was critical, at 0917 the Unit was paralleled and at 1530 the Unit was at full power (825 MWe).

-9/12 At 1324 the Unit was manually tripped because of a loss of 21 Steam Generator Feed Pump (SGFP).

9/14 At 0225, the Reactor was critical and at 0405, Unit 2 was paralleled.

At 0800 Unit 2 was held at 60% while troubleshooting 21 SGFP Control System.

9/18 At 11:30 the Unit 2 breaker was opened.

The Unit was shutdown because 12 Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) had been out of service for 3 days while investigating an excessive gassing problem.

Technical Specification 3/4.8.1 requires 2 EDG's be available per unit except for 3 day maintenance windows.

9/18 Following the shutdown, a special 10 day EDG maintenance window was granted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

At 2305 the Reactor was critical

.--p 9/19 At 0104 Unit 2 was paralleled, and at 0600 the Unit was held at 60% power (500 MWe) for continued troubleshooting of 21 SGFP.

9/20 At 0405, repairs on 21 SGFP were completed, and at 1200, Unit 2 was fully loaded (825 MWe).

9/30 The Unit ended this reporting period at full reactor power (825 MWe).
