SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GROUNDWATER ALARM MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M97709 AND M97710)
Dear Mr. Barron:
The staff has completed its review of Special Report (SR) No. 96-04 dated November 14,1996, and subsequent revisions, which were submitted by you, as required by Selected Licerwee Commitment No.16.9-8, " Groundwater Level (GWL] Monitori,1g System." As stated in the enclosed safety evaluation, the staff finds that the GWL alarms received at Well Mk. GWA 2, since October 1996 located near the Unit 2 Reactor Building, do not pose any safety hazard either for the safety-related structures, systems, or components or for the public.
The staff considers this matter resolved and is closing out TAC Nos. M97709 and M97710.
