It is with much regret that I must inform you that I will be leaving Kansas State University for a position with Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation. The efTective date of my departure is 1 July 1999. Please terminate my Senior Reactor Operator's License (Docket # 55-70064, SOP-70082) at that time. There are four other SRO's at KSU that can perform my duties until another Reactor Manager is selected by the University Administration. I will transfer my Special Nuclear Material authority upon my departure as well.
Kansas State University's reactor is in great shape. The reactor core was just reloaded with all stainless steel fuel, giving the reactor its highest safety margin ever. Our new
< SAR is nearly completed, and I plan to assist with the reactor's relicensing effort. I will stay in contact with the reactor facility and try to assure that the transition period goes smoothly. I certainly hope that the University is able to attract a good Reactor Manager to take my place, with all due speed.
On a final note, I would like to commend the NRC for their wisdom over the years.
There was always someone available for consultation. I owe everyone thanks for helping me through my career. It is with a sad heart that I leave K-State, but other opponunities await. I hope Region IV is ready to have me back!
