SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR ITEM 2.2 (PART 1) 0F GENERIC LETTER 83-28. EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION (PROGRAM FOR ALL SAFETY-RELATED COMPONENTS), FOR NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITSN0.1ANDNO.2(NA-182)(TACNOS.53693AND53694}

Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.2.1 required licensees to describe in detail their program for classifying all safety-related components other than RTS components as safety-related on plant documents and in information handling systems that are used to control plant actuations that may affect these components.

By letters dated November 4,1983 and February 8,1985, Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPC0) submitted responses to Generic letter 83-28. Item 2.2.1.

Our review of the VEPC0 submittals is documented in the enclosed NRC contractor's report (EG&G-NTA-7379) and in our enclosed Safety Evaluation Report which docu-ments our concurrence with the contractor's findings which finds the VEPC0 responses to be acceptable.

Therefore, we find Item 2.2.1 to be completed by this action.

In your response, you stated that the development of a new and more complete listing of safety-related components was in planning but no specific date for completion was provided.

In order that inspection-related scheduling may be addressed for this matter, we request that you provide a schedule for the com-pletion of the new listing and for implementation within 60 days of the date of this letter.

It is noted that both Items ?.2.1 and 2.2.2 of Generic Letter 83-28 have been followed by the NRC Technical Assignment Control (TAC) numbers 53693 and 53694 for NA-1&2, respectively.

Since Iten ?.2.2 remains open, we are closing out TAC numbers 53693 and 53694, and we will issue new TACs for NA-1&2 Item 2.2.2.

Our review of the VEPC0 subnittals is documented in the enclosed NRC contractor's report (EGAG-NTA-7379) and in our enclosed Safety Evaluation Report which docu-ments our concurrence with the contractor's findings which finds the VEPCO responses to be acceptable. Therefore, we find Item 2.7.1 to be completed by this action.

It is noted that both Items 2.2.1 and ?.2.? of Generic Letter 83-28 have been followed by the NRC Technical Action Control (TAC) numbers 53693 and 53694 for NA-1&P, respectively. Since Item 2.2.7 remains open, we are closing out TAC numbers 53693 and 5369A, and we will issue new TACs for NA-1&? Item 2.?.?.
