Dear Hr. Michaels:

When the ORAU survey team was performing the confirnation survey, several aroat at the landfill were found to exceed two times background on contact. Since the concrete material was piled together in those places, a 4 pi geometry exfsted with ecatact measurenents taken, rather than a 2 pi geometry at a distance of I ncter. This geometry probica caused the measurements to be exaggerated. Afr.er the survey team left the site, the blocks were separated so tha-. the proper geortetry existed to allcw for sufficient surveillance. A resurvey of,the suspect blocks it attached. This deta confirms that the release criteria vare not cxeceded.

If you have any questions please contact us. As discussed by telephone earlier today, very pressing needs for the telease of the facility exist. An expeditious review would be greatly appreciated.
