NRC Bulletin 88-02: Rapidly Propagating Fatigue Cracks in Steam Generator Tubes Dear Sir Yankee submitted Ref erences (b) and (c) in response to NRC Bulletin 88-02.
During subsequent phone conversations between the NRC and Yankee Atomic Electric Company (YAEC), the staff reviewer requested additional information to support our conclusion that rapidly propagating tube rupture is not a credible event at Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS). Additional information is submitted herewith.
The eddy current daia for steam Generators No. I and 4 were re-examined to determiue Antivibration Bar (AVB) locations.
Figures 1 and 2 demonstrate tube support to Row 9.
The data for Columns 9 through 17 in Row 9 for Steam Generator No. 1 are not available. The AVB diagrams for Steam Generators 1 and 4 as well as Steam Generator No. 2 (submitted via Reference (b)), show a consistent penetracion to the design depth of Row 9.
The remaining technics 1 isroes which were raised by the staff reviewer during our phone conversations are being addressed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. They have completed all analyses and have submitted a draft to YAEC. Westinghouse Electric Corporation has successfully resolved all c,f your technical concerns. We are working diligently on this report and will submit this to you as soon as possible.
