l This letter provides an update of the Petition you submitted pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of

) Federal Reaulations. Section 2.206, dated November 25,1996, and an amendment to the l

Petition dated December 23,1996, submitted by you on behalf of the Citizens Awareness

. Network and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service (PetRioners). The Petition was submitted to the Commissioners of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and to the  !

NRC Executive Director for Operations. The Petition requested that the NRC take actions l regarding the nuclear facilities that Northeast Utilities (licensee) operates in Connecticut. l A Partial Directors Decision (DD-97-21) was provided by letter dated September 12,1997, and a I followup correction letter was sent on October 20,1997, As we noted in the partial decision, a portion of Request 3 was deferred since NRC investigations are ongoing relating to any possible wrongdoing by the licensee. A Final Directors Decision will be provided when the NRC l completes its investigations.  :
